The LASAF membership has voted to accept the Endangered Species Recovery Incentives for Habitat Conservation Policy Statement. It has been presented to the House of Society Delegates for consideration at the National level, and was passed by unanimous vote.
A Proposal to Support Timber Management on the Kisatchie National Forest was voted on at the Business Meeting. The LASAF membership voted to accept this Policy Statement and to send a copy to the Kisatchie National Forest Supervisor, the Southern Regional Forester, and the Chief of the U.S. Forest Service.
The LASAF membership voted to send a letter to William Smith, SAF National Chair, expressing their support of Mr. Bush's Healthy Forest Initiatives, including the suspension or modification of some existing Environmental Policy requirements in order to begin fuel reduction projects on needed areas in the National Forests.
